Battalion 3 Chief, C-Shift

Chief Abel began his fire service career in 1995 as a reserve firefighter/EMT with Central Yavapai Fire District.  He promoted to full-time firefighter status in 1998 and has since promoted through the ranks of engineer and captain before promoting to Battalion Chief in 2014. Chief Abel has been an active member of the agency spending ten years as a Training Officer along with his extensive involvement with our wildland program. He is the Wildland Coordinator and has been involved in local, state and national training. Chief Abel is a member of the red card committee and is the chair person for the operations/dispatch committee through the wildland sub-committee of the Arizona Fire Chiefs Association.   In addition to his duties with the Fire District, he also serves as a Type I Operations Section Chief for Team Two in the southwest area (Region 3). Because of his extensive wildland experience, Chief Abel has been appointed as a board member for the Wildland Fire Fighter Foundation.
